Summary

"Taking Care" is a two-year project, between “Kuusankoski Hiking Club” in Finland and “BMQ, Lda.” in Portugal.

Each partner will send 6 senior volunteers abroad, for a 3-week program, to develop several nonprofit activities in the local community, aiming to offer intercultural learning possibilities, aiming to combat loneliness, isolation and social exclusion, providing better quality of life and well-being of the senior community. Volunteers will work 5 days a week, 5 or 6 hours per day, and they will have a range of possible tasks to choose from. The volunteer´s work program will be individually planned according to the profile and expectations of each volunteer.

With this project we hope not only to promote the well-being and social inclusion of volunteers, but also to benefit the partner organizations with their knowledge and valuable help in the surrounding community and to develop long lasting cooperation between partners and their volunteers.

In addition, it should be noted that from a project with European nature, where knowledge and experience of the two countries are shared, the stakeholders clearly gain benefit more (experience and skills) than they would from a national project.
